Choose a clean, sturdy cardboard box without staples or exposed fasteners.

Step 1 — Choose Your Box 📦

Before cutting, use a pencil to plan where your openings will go.

Don't put every opening on top.

That's part of the fun.

Try something like:

TOP: 4–5 openings
FRONT: 1–2 openings
SIDE: 1–2 openings

Now your cat may have to walk around the puzzle instead of sitting in one position and repeatedly using the same hole.

Step 4 — Cut the Openings ✂️

Your cat should be completely away from the workspace during cutting.

Carefully cut along your markings.

Once finished, run your fingers carefully around every opening.

Check for:

sharp cardboard points
rough edges
loose fibers
tape fragments
dangling cardboard

Then inspect and test every opening before moving on.

For this version, open the same Mystery Paw Box and add simple cardboard structures inside.

You can create:

short cardboard dividers
little internal walls
simple pathways

Don't overcomplicate the inside.

You could divide the puzzle loosely into three areas.

The treat or toy begins somewhere relatively easy to find.

ZONE 2 — The Mystery Zone 👀

One or two simple cardboard dividers alter the object's path.

ZONE 3 — The Jackpot 😻
