Meet Our Street Cat Angel #3: Cat Angel Barb – The Compassionate Caregiver
Barbara Lorenzo, known to us as Cat Angel Barb, has been a devoted cat rescuer in Miami, Florida for years. From a young age, she has loved animals, and her compassion extends beyond her two indoor cats, Figaro and Luna, to strays and kittens in her community.
Cat Angel Barb’s journey began in her neighborhood, where she noticed local strays and abandoned cats. She started putting out food and water daily, rain or shine. Over time, she established a small colony of cats in her backyard, two females who now rely on her consistent care and shelter. Along the way, she has rescued and found forever homes for several kittens, including one now living with her daughter, bringing her immense joy.
This Memorial Day weekend, Cat Angel Barb trapped 19 cats and kittens: adults were spayed/neutered and returned to their familiar environment, while the kittens, many under two pounds, came to her home for care. Sadly, two did not survive, but others, like the orange tabby now named Sunny, have found loving homes.
Her dedication extends to the day-to-day care of her indoor cats, Figaro, who arrived weighing just 6 oz, and Luna, a tiny 1 lb baby she lovingly rescued. Her work is not without challenges; vet bills and food costs are significant, yet her commitment never wavers.
Currently, Cat Angel Barb is helping four kittens find their forever homes: Tessa, Tom, Jerry, Sebastian, and whisker. . She provides them with all the love, care, and patience they need, exemplifying the heart of a true Cat Angel.

Update!
Cat Angel Barb shared that life has been especially busy lately, and this weekend four of the kittens in her care—including Tessa, the adorable tortie—are flying up north through The Cat Network program. While she knows this move gives them a wonderful chance at finding forever homes, she admits her heart is aching. After nurturing them for more than six months, saying goodbye is incredibly hard. She’s praying each kitten is welcomed into a loving family where they can thrive. 💔🙏🏻
